One of the "100 Great Venues Around the World to Hear Jazz"

DownBeat magazine

2019 marks the famous jazz spot’s 30th anniversary. With live performances six nights a week, the venue hosts 500 shows a year – that’s more than 15,000 performances over the past three decades!

Our Food

In addition to surprisingly affordable tickets and some of the greatest names in jazz to grace our stage, Chris’ is known for its unrivaled cuisine. The kitchen, led by Chef/Owner Mark DeNinno produces a superbly soulful Southern-influenced menu for lunch and dinner. Everything is made from scratch, from the soups to the New Orleans Style Jambalaya — the top selling dish in the restaurant. DeNinno started cooking at age 13 with stints at impressive kitchens such as Chef George Perrier’s celebrated Le Bec-Fin.

"What I learned there is how to make the simplest of ingredients ethereal"

Mark DeNinno

Mark’s classic French culinary background is apparent in the masterful dishes he orchestrates, whether it’s the Galette de Crabe, nightly amuse bouche or a sous vide Chicken Fried Lobster Tail served over a house-made corn and scallion Belgian waffle finished with house-made lavender honey, or the Seared Duck Breast with grilled asparagus, braised corn and rhubarb puree – you’re not going to find typical bar fare here. Guests will be pleasantly surprised by our delectable, seasonal menu selections.

Our Philosophy

We attribute our longevity to a simple principle: take care of our guests and ensure that they have a good time. That’s why our customers return again and again.

"We want you to leave completely satisfied, and we want to know that we've nourished your soul through the food… and the music."

Mark DeNinno

Chris’ Jazz Café is an homage to art, celebrating the art of music, the culinary arts and the art of fine hospitality. Our goal every day is for our guests to love the music, savor the cuisine and enjoy one of the best live music experiences in Philadelphia.
